I'm really bad at this journal thing. More work = less brain, apparently. Still, a general catch up, beginning with that music meme that I seem to have abandoned halfway through. Or not even that far. Day 14 is a rubbish one though. A song you want played at your wedding. Um? Short of the Beatles' Help!, or possibly the Animals' We Gotta Get Out Of This Place, I think I shall just sidle on past that one. Day 15: A song that is a cover by another artist. There's a few good covers around. Obviously George Harrison's version of Got My Mind Set On You rather goes without saying. I love Marc Almond's team up with Gene Pitney for a retake of Something Gotten Hold Of My Heart, and Freddie's version of The Great Pretender is another obvious one. But, having heard it again the other day, and having forgotten just how good it is, I'll go with this one instead: the Lemonheads and Mrs Robinson.

Day 16: One of your favourite pieces of classical music. The problem with classical music is that, although there's a lot of it that I like, I never seem to know what it's called. It's all "the fifth movement of the ninth symphony", etc, and you have to have a much better brain that mine to keep all that straight. So instead here's the Shadows doing The Mozart Forte (from Mozart's Symphony 40). Love it.

Day 17: A song you'd sing a duet with on karaoke. Is it possible to sing a duet with a song? But the answer to that one is nothing ever, ever, ever, ever, ever. So, moving swiftly on, to the last one for today - Day 18: A song from the year you were born. I was born in the year of Bohemian Rhapsody and Born To Run, but those are too easy. It was also the year of Telly Savalas, Jonathan King and Demis Roussos, but I'm not going there either, don't worry. Instead here's Jungleland, mostly because there's never a good reason not to play it.

Not a lot happening, outside of music memes. The summer has gone away, but the Livingstone Daisies are still looking good:

They're great flowers. So vibrant. Been a good year for flowers in general, despite the lack of rain in the spring. Mostly just because I like them, here's some chicory and a hardhead (knapweed). The latter looks a bit like an explosion, but it's just a flower, honest.

Also a random deer and a wren.

And a swan folding itself in half for your amusement.

Heck of a way to scratch your backside.

I'll leave you with Freddie Mercury and the extended version of The Great Pretender, because the video is a thing of beauty. And because why not, frankly.

You know, there's very little in life that can't be improved by Roger Taylor in a miniskirt. (My thought for the day is less meaningful than Radio 4's, but no less true for that.)

*watches The Great Pretender happily* No matter how many times I watch it or the short version, I still just have to stop and watch Freddie having so much fun. ♥

Those Livingstone Daisies are gorgeous. I love those and Gerbera Daisies. I like the chicory too - what a lovely colour.

It is a good colour, isn't it. They only stay open until around noon (lazy flowers!), but they're great while they last. The Livingstones can be a bit precious too, and tend to close up if there's not enough sun, but they stay open all day if the weather is decent. And they're certainly cheerful!

Those flowers look great.

I love Marc Almond's version of "Something's gotten hold ..." - one of my favourite songs ever!

It's a terrific song, isn't it. :)

It is ... so ... melodramatic! ;-)

Yes, that's an excellent way to describe it!

"There's very little in life that can't be improved by Roger Taylor in a miniskirt."
That is an excellent observation. :D

Also have to say that your choice of good covers s excellent as well. I've got my mind set on you is one of my favourites too.

Hope work is not too busy.

*fish! for everyone*
