A bunch of stuff

I keep meaning to make a post, and never getting around to it. This generally means that I wind up with about a thousand things that I wanted to say, and no hope of remembering more than a fraction of them. But I very much doubt that any of them were actually interesting, so there's that.

But before I waffle about nothing, have something of no relevance to anything. Instant happy cat!

If the first picture looks a little wide-eyed, it's because, the very instant I put the box down on the floor after taking out what was in it, she leapt into it from about half the room away, and spun round and round in circles chasing her tail, before popping up as though to pretend that she hadn't just been acting like a total maniac. "What? What are you looking at?! I'm just sitting here, minding my own business..."

In other news, I was dispatched in search of sloes a few days ago, so I can only assume that my mother intends to make sloe gin again. Last year's attempt was a syrupy mixture with a kick like a mule, that I thought was revolting. Mind you, I'm teetotal, so this was probably only to be expected. So's my mother as a general rule actually, which might explain why she was even more cheerful than usual during the post-Christmas season. (She's persistently happy as a general rule. I swear that we are not actually related). Goodness knows what the alcohol content was. Still, as long as she doesn't start singing, I suppose it can't do anybody any harm.

Elsewhere, Fortunes Of War ended. I'm genuinely sorry to see it go - it was a beautifully made series. A little sadly autobiographical for the two leads as well, perhaps. There was a running theme of a marriage on the point of collapse, due to his devotion to his work, and inability to make time for his wife. There's a YouTube playlist here, if anybody's interested. The last few episodes feature an insanely young Rupert Graves, which made me smile.

Oh, and hey - movie trailer. I don't know what to think of this, as the book wasn't great, and it sparked off a lamentable trend of copycats, but this does look pretty funky (and I believe that Matt Smith is in it):

We'll see, I guess. It's been in the works since '09, which doesn't bode well, admittedly. Still. Anyway, there was definitely other stuff I was going to say, but the likelihood of it being important, or of any interest at all to anybody save me (and possibly not even then), is slim to non-existent, so I shall shut up now and go and do something else. Ideally involving tea.

It has promise, doesn't it! I'm not usually fond of zombies, but maybe this time.

Oh yes, so he is! With his hair all squished down. Well spotted.

A cat post is never effort wasted. The territorialism and fighting spirit of your little lion's pride is admirable.

Still, as long as she doesn't start singing, I suppose it can't do anybody any harm.
lols. I feel as if we must be related in some way.

The film does look fun. And Mat Smith really suits a Regency style.

Ha. The terror of the singing mother! It's either a nationwide phobia, or the title of a dodgy Hitchcock movie.

Period dress does seem to suit some people particularly well, doesn't it.

Perfect icon! There is something about cats where, if one is comfortable, another has to immediately come along with a wicked gleam in their eye, and try to steal their place. They are evil. :)

Ahhh kitties:) This is what makes the internet happy!

Giiiiiiin, mmm. Cats and gin you are living the dream. Just put more tonic in if it's too strong.

Oh well, you'll just have to watch 'Fortunes of War' all over again, with gin;p

The trailer looks a fun popcorn movie. Matt Smith looks good, the other blokes look a little gormless it must be said!

Yes, the other blokes look as though a good gust of wind might send them flying. I suspect that they will not last long once the zombies start prowling. Presumably Darcy has to make it. I confess I never made it to the end of the book.

Gin's horrible, with or without tonic! I shall stick to tea. I do quite wish that I liked gin though. It definitely looks like fun.

Gin's nicer than lager and goes well with salt'n'vingar chipsticks. I prefer tea when there's a Russian wind blowing.
