Ducklings are little sods to take pictures of. They speed about on their rivers, like they're jet-propelled, resulting in an endless succession of out-of-focus, a-miss-is-as-good-as-a-mile pictures.

Out of focus, and half-way out of frame. This picture nicely sums up my duckling picture-taking venture.

This one actually is in focus, but part of it is missing.

Family portrait! Although the only way to get them all in the picture, since the uncooperative little sods were shooting off in different directions all the time, was to take a long distance shot. So although they're in focus, you can't actually see them.

The parents are much better behaved. I like ducks at the moment. They have shiny heads.

This post was brought to you by the duck agenda.

Aw, so cute! <3 I love ducks.

They are nice. My brother had a pet duck years ago! A huge white thing called Walter. He was very friendly.

Aw, that sounds adorable! I would love to have a pet duck someday.

It was nice. We dug him a little pond, and he used to get terribly excited whenever he sat on it. He used to turn it to muddy slime by the end of the week though, so we'd have to sluice it out and refill it, and then he'd get wildly excited all over again! He should probably have lived somewhere where there was a proper watercourse, but he was utterly rubbish at looking after himself.

He sounds adorable! :D

The ducklings are really cute!

And uncooperative. :)

Try taking pictures of Squirrel Monkeys. I have a number of blurred ones from my Woburn trip today.

That sounds nice! I love monkeys - but yes, I can imagine it's a bit frustrating trying to get good pictures.

Little tinkers! How adorable. Did you see about the ducklings in the melted tar this week? Poor little geezers.

Male mallards do look rather alien, with their bright colouring.

I hadn't seen that. Poor little things! Hopefully that will have a happy ending.

Cute! Bribery and corruption is the answer(food) to your photography woes. I saw two very wee ducklings yesterday. And trees wrapped in knitwear, eh?

Yarn-bombing? I thought that was just an urban thing. It must be spreading further afield.

I'm sure the trees are delighted.

Aha! Bit pointless. I think it has something to do with the WI over here. Being a grouch, the ones I saw didn't do anything sartorially for the trees. It just looks messy and there are plenty of nice ducks to look at instead.

Hmm. Knitting jerseys for trees does sound a bit like a WI sort of thing, doesn't it. In my mother's day they just used to bake sausage rolls.

Aww, they're so cute! I think the photos are worthwhile, but I have no idea how long you spent trying to get good pics. :oD

Not very long! I am not an especially patient person. Also it was raining. ;)
