Looking for autumn

It's been an odd season so far; or it has been around here anyway. Apparently the trees can't be bothered to change their coats. It definitely is autumn. The warmth has gone, there's been some very cold nights, and there's been more rain in the last three days than there was over the whole of the summer. But everything is still remarkably green. So when I went for a walk today, I went looking for the red bits.

There's a nice bit of autumn here. I quite like this bit:

And look, I have it from the other direction too, because I'm helpful (or boring) that way:

But I could have taken this picture at any time over the summer:

Trees!

Sorry. Here, have a photo of a squirrel instead:

The castle has found a bit of autumn:

It doesn't seem inclined to share, though. And when the sun consents to come out, it's remarkably summery still:

Not that I'm complaining exactly - at least while the sun is shining. But if you do have any spare bits of autumn lying about, and don't mind sharing, stick them in the post, could you? If I have to put up with the pelting rain and being chilly at night, I want the nice colours that go with it. Thank you.

PS:

Yum. :)

The squirrel's hiding, right? Behind that tree? Squizzer, come out, come out wherever you are! Jeff! Jeff!

It's so warm currently it feels like summer here, and I was sweltered last night. What is going on?

The squirrel wouldn't keep still, unco-operative little sod! Also it's a very old camera, without much of a zoom.

I am currently under siege from an overly enthusiastic wind, but other than that, it is pretty warm, yes. It's an odd sort of October.

Invisi-squirrel! Yum! to the blackberries. The trees up here have decided against this going red business and gone straight to drop. One hit me it was quite heavy!

Trees are quite heavy, yes. It's always best not to be hit by them, I always feel. :p

I think we probably are going straight from green to naked this year, if the wind last night is anything to go by. No fair.
