God Only Knows

Every so often, the BBC does something quite remarkable...

This is, of course, a riff on their original work in this line, the infamous take on Lou Reed's Perfect Day. It probably says a lot about how out of touch I've become that I can name practically everybody in that video, and hardly anybody in this new one! The BBC has thoughtfully provided a Spotter's Guide, which is helpful. Still, even without knowing everybody this time, it really is a great piece of work.

The guide to who's who:

I had seen that linked somewhere else in passing, but hadn't bothered to look - but you're right, that's pretty amazing! Thanks! ♥

It's a nice bit of fun. I love that kind of thing, though I really don't know why!

I suppose "Perfect Day" had no reason to go global, though for some reason it surprises me that it didn't! It was the talk of the country when it premiered. The BBC brought it out as a single for the Children In Need charity in the end, as it was so popular.

Funny looking at it now though, and seeing who isn't famous anymore!

It may have gone global - I am usually oblivious to music trends, I tend to discover bands through songvids. I barely recognise anyone apart from the oldies *sigh*

I don't recognise half them either. And I thought Lorde was that band that won Eurovision.

Good song though.

Yes, there was a band on Eurovision with a name similar to that, wasn't there. I think it was Lordi, but that's just dredging something up from the depths of my memory, so I'm probably wrong! Lorde is from New Zealand. I know her name because Springsteen covered one of her songs when he was touring out there earlier this year. Couldn't pick her out of a line up though.

Thank you for the link! I had a vague inkling something like this was coming up from listening to the radio stations, but this week has been so busy I'd missed it. I did recognise most of the artists (phew?), and by the second time Brian Wilson came up, my heart was swelling. I loved the fantasy touches in the video, and only a very few moments came off as cheesy. It'll be interesting to listen to without the visuals.

Good, isn't it! It's a nice new interpretation of the song.

And well done for being much more in touch than I am. :D
