20 albums you'd take into space...

alec_towser did this one a few days ago, and I've been thinking about it ever since. It's such a great question. A bit of a nonsensical one, admittedly, as in the age of digitised music there's no need to limit yourself to twenty albums. You could take your entire music collection in one pocket. Still, music and space travel - what's not to love?

I've limited myself to no more than two albums by any one artist, as otherwise there's too much temptation to make 90% of the list about Queen and the E Street Band. I've also banned myself from best ofs, although that does limit my jazz and rock 'n' roll choices rather. The list is just in alphabetical order, obviously. Anything else would be impossible.

  • a-ha - Scoundrel Days

  • a-ha - Stay On These Roads

  • Blondie - No Exit

  • Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band - A Good Night For A Ride

  • Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band - Piece De Resistance

  • Chantz - Stories Of Me

  • Dean Martin - This Time I'm Swingin' (although this does mean no Ain't That A Kick In The Head. Maybe my co-pilot will be a fan?!)

  • Green Day - American Idiot

  • Kula Shaker - K

  • McFly - Radioactive

  • Manic Street Preachers - Postcards From A Young Man

  • The Max Weinberg 7 - The Max Weinberg 7

  • Nirvana - Nevermind

  • Oasis - (What's The Story) Morning Glory? (this was a close one, and Definitely Maybe nearly won it. I think this one just edges into the lead though. Maybe).

  • Pulp - Different Class

  • Queen - A Kind Of Magic

  • Queen - Sheer Heart Attack

  • Roger Taylor - Electric Fire

  • Santana - Supernatural

  • The Traveling Wilburys - The Traveling Wilburys (Vol I)

It's a shame to miss out Bowie's Ziggy Stardust. Had it been a list of twenty-one albums, it might have got in. As it is, I shall have to be a starman with no Starman, and no Spiders From Mars. It's a hard life!

"Stay On These Roads" is my favorite AHa song/album ever. <3

It's a terrific song. I would say that "Scoundrel Days" is my favourite of their albums, but "Stay On These Roads" is very good as well.

Let's see ... I've got exactly 4 albums on that list ... ;-)

I know that one of them is "Nevermind"! I might hazard a guess at "American Idiot" as well.

Good guess ... ;-)
Plus the 2 a-ha ones ...
