30 Days Of Telly #29

Day twenty-nine, your current TV show obsession. I don't really have one. Lately I've been watching Jack Holborn, largely thanks to this meme, but I don't think I could call that an obsession. It is great, though. I hope I never decide that I'm too old for children's adventures, as they're so much better than the grown up ones. Jack Holborn is the story of a young foundling, who gets mixed up in the feud between the despicable Captain Sharingham and his hilariously danger-prone identical twin brother. It doesn't sound like much, but it's brilliant. Swashbuckly and entertaining, and awash with pirates and peril. All the kind of thing that my television needs a lot more of, frankly. Why aren't there any pirates on TV anymore? Sort it out, television.

So yeah, not an obsession, but a great thing to watch. I recommend it to everybody who needs a little excitement in their lives. And that's everybody really, isn't it?

Maybe they all watched 'Sir Francis Drake' and fell asleep. 'The Buccaneers' it is not:(

Yay, to evil identical twins though. I hope it caused some plotty-plotty-plot storylines with them pretending to be the other brother. And silly disguises.

They spend half the series pretending to be each other. The judge goes after his brother to stop his evil ways, and his brother shoots him, steals his clothes, and disappears. The judge then gets 'rescued' by his brother's pirate gang, and can't let on who he really is, or he'll be shot all over again. This leads to an hilariously dubious interlude in a slave market, when a former crewman of the captain's is desperate to buy the judge, in order to have his wicked way with him.

Don't know about disguises as such (they're identical after all), but there are some very silly hats.

Silly hats, slave markets & pretending to be someone else! My kind of show.

Wah, it went while I was eating my potatoes:( Reading it was a co-production with Germany cheered me. The Germans love a doppelganger (doppelgangers being called doppelgangers is a giveaway), and so do I in German films.

Best watch 'The Smugglers'(the DW one)!
