Dangerously awesome music alert. Another swoopy helicopter too, though this time it's black and white and very macho, and piloted by a headcase with a cello. See, eighties TV may have been shallow at times, but it was rarely boring.

Yep, Airwolf this time. Another odd one. Almost unique amongst eighties action shows, Airwolf was clever and thoughtful and beautifully made. Season one was genuinely good television by anybody's standards. It even credited the viewer with having brains, which is annoyingly rare in TV Land. Then the producers panicked. "An intelligent television show?! My god, what were we thinking?!" Consequently, it was all downhill from season two, with season three being particularly bad. Then the entire cast was replaced for season four, which shifted production to Canada, and was made for less than a dollar per episode in a TV studio somewhere in Vancouver. Which isn't so great when it's a show that revolves around dogfights in a helicopter.

I have to admit that I rather enjoy season four. It's different enough to the original to not just be a depressing reminder of how good it used to be, which is what made seasons two and three so bad. Also, it featured Dick van Dyke as a mad, killer robot, and who could fail to love that? Still, there's no beating the way it used to be.

Ready that joystick.

Somehow I missed season 1 the first time around (probably clashed with Guides or something), so started watching this with season 2.

Don't remember seeing season 4 at all.

If you are going for helicopters, don't forget Blue Thunder.

I did think about Blue Thunder, certainly. It wasn't a favourite of mine, but I do remember lots of speeding about, and shooting at things with very big guns. I looked it up on YouTube, though, and the theme music was rubbish.

Yeah; it's a bit like the A-Team, but less so. It only did one season anyway.

Now that's what 80's science and technology theme music is all about! Love it! And the fact that they have..'And Ernest Borgnine' lol. But honestly never saw one episode of this.

You probably didn't miss a lot! Mind you, if you do ever manage to see the season four episode with Dick van Dyke as a mad killer robot, I'd recommend it. It's certainly a unique viewing experience...
