Swoopy helicopter, here we go

Technically this one started in the seventies, but it was mostly an eighties show. Also, it used to be twinned with Simon & Simon, so it's a good companion piece to yesterday's post. So hop aboard your red Ferrari, spin your tyres - and then get your friends to do all your work, whilst you sprawl on a beach and work on your bushy moustache. And bounce along to your theme tune.

Eyebrows at the ready? Then we'll begin.

Were you spying on my house in the 1980s? EVERY show we watched, here they are. I had such a thing for John Hillerman - sarcasm, the way to my heart LOL.

Higgins was great, wasn't he. He had by far the best lines. I always liked Rick, probably because he was three feet shorter than everybody else, and had a gangster friend called Ice Pick.

Then somewhat bizarrely I saw the whole series again a few years ago, and discovered that he's actually a rather nicely done illustration of post traumatic stress disorder. He even has two distinct personalities, depending on how much pressure he's under at the time. That was rather a surprise, I must say. Went right over my head as a kid.

I think I only ever watched one episode of 'Simon and Simon', but I was an avid fan of Magnum. To think, if he hadn't been doing this, he would have been Indiana Jones.

In the end, he sort of got to be both. Did you ever see the Magnum episode that was a nod to Indiana Jones? It was in one of the later seasons. He had the hat and the bullwhip, and had to find some old treasure buried in a tunnel full of booby traps. It was a lot of fun.

I didn't see that episode, but 'High Road to China' is a good fun film if you haven't seen it.

I genuinely do like all of these shows. "TJ Hooker" maybe not quite so much, but the others I love.

I really enjoy intelligent, sophisticated television, as you can probably tell. ;)
