It was supposed to make me feel a bit better given the result, but yeah. That too!

46% of eligible voters didn't bother. 46%! They knew what the outcome might be, but half the bleeding populace stayed home. And eleven thousand people wrote "Harambe the dead gorilla" on their voting forms, and voted for him instead. Eleven. Thousand. Goodness knows where that came from, as that many people can't have thought it up off their own bat.

Elections are weird.

I presume it's equivalent to putting 'Jedi Knight' for religion on the census forms, over here. Funny, for a census. Not so much in an election with those kind of stakes. Not blooming funny at all.

Especially when the vote was so damned close. I do understand frustration and disaffection and all the rest of it. Goodness knows we're all sick of our politicians too, over here. But when you're faced with the possibility of Trump.

I'm tempted to suggest that we give up on democracy for a bit, until people learn how to use it better.
