Dear Brain,

If there's some reason why I've spent the last few days singing a selection of songs from the BBC Radio for Schools production Queen Beryl & the Romans, which my school performed in 1982, then I'd love to hear it. Equally, if there's some reason why I can faultlessly sing a bunch of songs that I haven't heard in thirty-four years, when my memory regarding anything that might be a bit useful is pretty much non-existent, I would also like to know. Really, Brain. It's embarrassing.

Oh hey, look: Peter Davison's got an autobiography coming out! Sounds promising. We already know he can write. I like the write up at Amazon:

His fans have spoken, but despite their requests, Peter Davison has gone ahead and written his autobiography anyway. It wasn't the book they tried to stop it was more like the book they didn't want him to start.

I think I shall look forward to that one.

My brain is the same ... I still sing happily along to all 80s songs because I know all the lyrics ... haha!

Some songs are worth remembering, certainly!

I'm intrigued... by Queen Beryl. Going to have to search it out, now.

lols I'm sure it will be amusing.

I don't know that you'll find much about it online. It was subtitled, "I Came, I Saw, I Made A Mess Of It", and as I recall (I remember far less about the plot than I do of the songs!), it was about a group of Romans sent to conquer Britain, who forgot what the word "civilisation" meant, so couldn't fulfil their mission. The Brits refused to enlighten them, as they didn't want any civilising. The lyrics are actually quite clever. I can't speak for the story though!

I asked my brain to see if it would know and it just laughed at me!

Lol:) He was on Mr and Mrs a few weeks ago, I don't need to read the book now;p

"Mr & Mrs"?! I'm not sure that's the sort of thing you're supposed to admit to having watched. :p

99% of what I watch I shouldn't admit to;p

Brains are incomprehensible, except when they're all too comprehensible. I hope you get a new earworm soon, and a better one!

And, lol, Peter. And, yes, since he can write, it should be a good read, I'd think. :-)

I don't mind the songs, exactly. There are some pretty clever lyrics. I'm just utterly baffled as to why I can remember them! But yes, brains are basically incomprehensible. They like to have their fun at our expense.

Apparently older memories are easier to recollect than new ones because they kind of sink in over the years!!

That's an interesting idea. I'd have thought that old memories would be in danger of being taped over, so to speak, by new ones, but I guess there's a lot of hard drive space in there! I just wish I had more control over what my brain chooses to record. :)

brains are not like electronic tape, they are more like a box of frogs where the frogs that have been there the longest are the strongest! (Not my best metaphor ever)

Maybe not, but I like it. If in doubt, weight-lifting frogs. :)

Hee! That sounds like it'll be a fantastic book. :oD
