30 Days Of Adam Adamant #5

09. Favourite photo/screenshot

I think I better take this behind a cut.

I could take screenshots all day, of Adam posing, or of Georgina in her flashy sixties duds, but instead I'm going with the show's publicity photos. There was a lovely photo shoot prior to the series beginning, involving the two leads and Adam's little mini, and I love all of the pictures that they took. Gerald Harper and Juliet Harmer are clearly enjoying themselves, and the pictures are perfect.

Then there's these - one from 1966, and the other from 2006:

You've got to love Gerald Harper. Also there's this very nice shot of the two of them together again, also taken in 2006:

Although, to go back to screenshots for a moment, I could also be persuaded to go with this one, from "To Set A Deadly Fashion", in which poor, sensitive Adam has to endure a modern fashion show.

OMG! Legs!!!1! There's a lovely bit of dialogue here. Adam decides that he must leave immediately, but he's told that he has to stay to avoid insulting his host. Very reluctantly, and clearly very unhappy, he agrees: "...but I shall find it extremely worrying."

He's hilarious around women. Goodness only knows why, given the world that he comes from, but I let it go because it's funny.

So yeah. That was quite a lot of pictures really, wasn't it.

Aw. They're all nice - but the end ones really are rather aw-inducing even for someone who doesn't know the show. :-)

The reunion shots are nice ones, yes. It seems to have been one of those shows where everybody had a really great time, and were genuinely happy to get together again. A shame it's not better remembered - but around here we all seem to have a favourite show that we can say that about!

I haven't seen it, but I'd definitely heard of it, so I don't think it's all that forgotten. I even had an idea of what it was about, which is more I can say for most of the old shows I've been watching lately. :-)

Apparently it was the inspiration for Austin Powers, so yes, some people must remember it. But what a thing to inspire... That's what bugs me, I suppose. Not that it isn't remembered, but that it's remembered as a joke. Typical modern attitude to old TV though - everybody thinking modern is better! *sulk, pout, grumble, etc*

Aw. We know better, though, right?

(And Adam Adamant Lives! is high on my wishlist, it really is. It just needs to go cheaper!!)

Ahh, thanks, but I don't use Ebay at the moment. (I need to fix my Paypal account sometime, but I had a bad experience with it re. credit card fraud, so I'm leaving it for when I'm a lot better.)

That's understandable. They say such problems are rare, but that's not much consolation when it's happening to you!
